Happy Mother's Day

Dear Amma,

Since I am sleeping like a log right now, so, I have requested Papa to write you a poem on my behalf.
Here it goes:

When you wake me up in the morning
That is the first thing I absolutely hate
And I keep wondering, why oh God?
Did this have to be my fate?

And then you brush my teeth,
That is the next thing that I really hate
And between my sobs, I keep wondering
About brushing, what is so great?

And then you'll feed me 100 things
Can't you realize that I like eating late
Why do you have to keep bugging me
And run behind me with a plate?

Then I am taken to the Daycare
There is nothing there that I don't hate
Why don't you spend a day with me, there
I'll show you how it irritates!

Later, in the evening when I am home
The feeding again - oh, how I hate!
But, I would be starving the whole day
So, what to do - I obliged and ate :-(

And then no Barney, no jacket for me
When you know that, that is what I hate
And you put me to sleep early - grrrr !
So, that I can wake up next day at 8

But it is when I am sleeping, Amma
God comes to me and says " Wait!
Rishu, you are my child
And it is me who has indeed written your fate "

" I have gifted you to your parents
Who have loved you till date,
Who will care for you, every moment hereon
As that is how parents are made "

" They feed you as they know that
You can definitely put on some weight
And they discipline you so that physically and mentally
you'd be at the healthiest possible state "

And that is when I realize, Amma
There must be a good around everything I hate
If God says then I have to agree, right?
That you are my best mate ?

So, I take back all my sob-stories
And everything, earlier, that I said
And this is coming for you only, dear Amma
From my tiny heart, straight:

I love you Amma.
You are the best thing that happened to me (btw, even Papa thinks you are the best thing that happened to him too, it seems !)

- Rishu

Thu, Dec 25 2008

It is Christmas day today. Vinutha and I did not step out of our house because of the cold ! Another reason is because all the shops/malls are closed today.
We watched Slumdog Millionaire today. One of the best movies I have seen in the recent times. Makes me realize how safe I am, with a simple childhood and now an even simpler adulthood (definitely much safer than the protagonist's).
Keen to watch Ghajini tomorrow morning. Wonder what we would have done if there weren't movies. :-)
